Peruvian companies increase AI and data investment

Peruvian companies are significantly increasing their investment in data and Artificial Intelligence. According to the EY Chief Data Officer Study 2026, 85% of surveyed organizations in Peru increased their budget for these capabilities over the last 12 months, a rate higher than other Latin American markets. Furthermore, 93% of these companies expect to continue increasing investment in the coming year.

Despite the technological push, the primary barriers to adoption are not technical. The study identifies governance (52%), strategy (48%), and budget (48%) as the main challenges, while technology was mentioned by only 30% of leaders. Additionally, the role of data leadership is rising, with 37% of data leaders in Peru reporting directly to the CEO.

This technological shift is also reshaping professional sectors such as accounting. In regions like La Libertad, AI is being used to automate routine tasks, allowing professionals to focus on financial analysis and risk management. This trend coincides with Peru rising to 7th place out of 19 countries in the 2025 Latin American Artificial Intelligence Index (ILIA).
