Peruvian courts implement procedural reforms and expand rural legal access

The Peruvian judiciary has reported significant advancements in legal accessibility and procedural modernization across different regions.

In Ica, the Superior Court of Justice achieved a milestone when its first ‘Sentencia Fuente’ (Source Sentence) was confirmed in a second-instance ruling. This mechanism, part of the Protocol for the Management of Serial Motivation, allows a single master decision to resolve multiple cases with similar legal and factual elements. This approach aims to increase legal predictability and expedite labor justice processes.

In the Loreto region, the Superior Court of Justice conducted an itinerant justice fair in the remote Lagarto Cocha native community. Led by Judge Yazmin Nicolle Del Aguila Puertas, the initiative provided direct legal services, including processing civil rectifications and offering free legal advice, to overcome geographic and socioeconomic barriers in the Amazon. The event emphasized intercultural dialogue between state judicial authorities and indigenous leaders.
