Peruvian drug shipments intercepted in Piura and at Ecuador's Huaquillas border

Peruvian police in the Piura region detained three individuals suspected of drug trafficking after an operation in the district of Veintiséis de Octubre uncovered a package of marijuana and fifteen small packets prepared for sale. The suspects, including a Colombian‑born Ecuadorian woman, were taken into custody and the seized material was handed to authorities for analysis.

In a separate operation at the southern border town of Huaquillas, Ecuadorian police seized 350 bottles of ketamine hidden in clandestine compartments of two freight trucks arriving from Peru. The drugs were discovered during a routine inspection, and the trucks were retained while investigators probe the source and destination of the shipment.

Both incidents highlight ongoing cross‑border drug trafficking challenges between Peru and Ecuador, prompting continued police cooperation to curb illicit substance flows.
