Peruvian Ex‑Governor Vladimir Cerrón Seeks Dismissal of New Bribery Charge

Peru's Public Ministry has asked a judge to archive the passive‑bribery indictment against Vladimir Cerrón, the fugitive former governor of the Junín region and leader of Perú Libre. The request is the second dismissal petition in the Antalís corruption investigation within three months, following an earlier order that dropped a collusion charge in April due to insufficient evidence.

Judge Cristóbal Ayala has ordered the filing to be sent to all parties, giving them ten working days to present objections before a mandatory preliminary hearing. While the bribery charge may be dismissed, Cerrón remains under prosecution for aggravated illicit association, a charge that was not included in the current dismissal request. Cerrón has not appeared before the court and his legal team awaits a ruling from the Constitutional Tribunal.
