Peruvian firms receive I-REC renewable energy certificates for 2025
SIDERPERU, the steel subsidiary of Gerdau, certified 297,809 MWh of its 2025 electricity consumption through international I-REC certificates supplied by Orygen. The certification covers a mix of 70 % non‑conventional renewable energy and 30 % hydroelectric power from the Matucana plant in Chimbote, Ancash, enhancing traceability of the company's renewable electricity use.
ENGIE Energía Perú also issued I-REC certificates to 20 companies across mining, industrial, airport, financial, real‑estate, education and services sectors, confirming a total of 1,878,157 MWh of renewable electricity consumed in 2025. Anglo American Quellaveco recorded the highest volume, with more than 1.27 million MWh certified. The certificates provide transparent verification of renewable sourcing and support the companies’ sustainability and decarbonisation goals.
