Peruvian Football Arbitration Body CONAR Releases VAR Audio and Sanctions over Lapadula Goal Controversy

The Comisión Nacional de Árbitros (CONAR) issued a statement rejecting any move to bring football arbitration decisions into the criminal courts after a dispute arising from the Alianza Lima‑Comerciantes Unidos match. CONAR also announced sanctions on four VAR officials – Augusto Menéndez, Jesús Cartagena, Edwin Ordóñez and Pablo López – who will miss the next round of Liga 1 fixtures.

In a separate action, CONAR published the VAR audio for the controversial goal scored by Gianluca Lapadula that gave Universitario de Deportes a 2‑1 win over Cusco FC. The audio captures VAR analyst Pablo López admitting an error: “El VAR analiza bajo un contexto equivocado que el jugador no realiza una falta…”. CONAR concluded that a foul by Juan Manuel Requena on Miguel Silveira should have led to the goal being nullified.

These disclosures aim to increase transparency and uphold the integrity of Peruvian football competitions.
