Peruvian Justice Minister Luis Jiménez called before Congress over gratitude commission

The Fiscalization and Comptroller Commission of Peru’s Congress scheduled a hearing for 18 May, summoning Justice and Human Rights Minister Luis Jiménez Borra. He is to explain the criteria and procedures used to appoint new members to the Presidential Gratitude Commission, detail how applications are evaluated, and update on pending cases.

Jiménez previously asserted that the commission would operate with full transparency after a member resigned to take a private‑sector job. In a separate public address, he warned that a sluggish justice system erodes public confidence, emphasizing anti‑corruption measures, faster judicial processes and greater transparency in public administration.
