Peruvian municipal candidates propose new urban and security measures

Peruvian municipal candidates have presented distinct proposals for urban management and security. In Arequipa, candidate Ricardo Ramírez del Villar proposed utilizing private sector partnerships and the ‘Works for Taxes’ mechanism to fund large-scale infrastructure projects. He suggested that projects like a cable car system could generate revenue through advertising and commercial spaces. Additionally, he proposed expanding the Solidaridad hospital network to various districts to improve healthcare access.

In Lima, Avanza País candidate Francis Allison proposed a reward program of up to S/25,000 for information leading to the identification and capture of criminals, specifically targeting hitmen. Allison, who seeks to replicate measures used during his tenure in Magdalena del Mar, emphasized the need for citizens to feel secure and advocated for the right to self-defense against armed criminals.
