Peruvian officials approve major road projects in Juliaca and Arequipa

In the city of Juliaca, the San Román provincial councilor Óscar Mamani Zela announced a six‑month reconstruction of the Moquegua passage. The plan replaces informal street stalls with three‑metre‑wide pedestrian sidewalks and an AI‑based traffic‑management system, aiming to curb night‑time crime and improve vehicle flow.

Meanwhile, the Arequipa regional government approved the El Loncco bridge project, a 14‑kilometre road link costing about S/ 127 million. The new bridge will connect the districts of Cayma and Alto Selva Alegre, easing congestion on the existing Chilina bridge and supporting economic, tourism and urban development in the region.
