Peruvian officials deny political favoritism and foreign links

Peruvian Health Minister Luis Dyer has denied any personal or professional connection to Argentine consultant Fernando Cerimedo, who is currently under investigation in Bolivia for alleged illicit enrichment. Dyer, who previously led the poll watcher team for Fuerza Popular during the electoral campaign, stated he has never met Cerimedo or communicated with him via chat, despite reports linking Cerimedo to a WhatsApp group named ‘Defensores del Perú’ used during Keiko Fujimori’s campaign.

Dyer also dismissed allegations regarding Giselle Giannotti and downplayed calls from opposition lawmakers to investigate potential foreign interference in the presidential campaign. He characterized the push for an investigative commission as a political move by the opposition.

Separately, José Francisco Recoba Martínez has defended his official appointment as Peru’s permanent representative to international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland. A former member of the Fuerza Popular technical team, Recoba rejected claims that his diplomatic designation was a ‘payment of favors’ for his political support. He noted that his upcoming multisectoral mission in Europe will cover a broad agenda beyond health issues.
