Peruvian security forces seize large cache of ammunition in Pataz

Peruvian security forces have conducted two major operations in the Pataz province of the La Libertad region to combat criminal organizations. Under ‘Operation Nemesis,’ the Unified Pataz Command carried out interventions in the towns of Yalén and Pueblo Nuevo, resulting in the seizure of 1,961 rounds of war ammunition of various calibers, 50 explosives, two firearms (Galil and CZ Scorpion types), a shotgun, pistols, magazines, communication radios, and a bulletproof vest. Two individuals were detained during this operation.

This follows ‘Operation Sol Naciente,’ conducted a few days prior in Yalén. That operation led to the arrest of two people and the confiscation of three CZ Scorpion rifles, one R-15, a shotgun, four pistols, 52 explosives, and various types of ammunition and magazines. The Ministry of Defense stated that the Armed Forces and National Police maintain a permanent deployment in Pataz to preserve internal order and reinforce local security.
