Peruvian streamer Kingteka investigated for shooting protected vulture
Peruvian streamer Abraham Steve Canez Gil, known as ‘Kingteka’, is under investigation after footage from a live broadcast showed him shooting a black vulture (Coragyps atratus). The incident reportedly took place at the Las Totoritas lagoon in the Végueta district, Huaura province.
The National Forest and Wildlife Service (Serfor) has condemned the act, noting that the bird is a protected species. Serfor announced it is coordinating with the National Police of Peru to determine legal responsibilities. The footage, which circulated widely on social media, shows the streamer and a group of people reacting to the bird's death during the broadcast.
Public outcry has led to calls for intervention by environmental prosecutors and ecological police. Under Peruvian law, the incident may be classified as an environmental crime and animal cruelty, potentially resulting in significant fines and prison sentences.
