Peruvian Subofficer Jhourchs Nolasco Detained With Gun Near Military Parade

A Peruvian Army subofficer, Jhourchs Yhonatan Nolasco Valencia, was arrested by the National Police shortly before the Grand Military Parade. The detention occurred around 07:10 a.m. at the intersection of Pasaje Bremen and Avenida San Felipe in the Jesús María district of Lima, only a few blocks from the official stand where senior officials gather.

Police said the subofficer displayed a suspicious attitude, insulted officers and some politicians, and refused to identify himself. He was found carrying a Browning pistol with an empty cartridge, two mobile phones, a watch, an ring, a pair of glasses and S/211 in cash. He is linked to the Second Division of the Department of Intelligence and Counter‑Intelligence of Rimac and is being investigated for an alleged crime against the public administration, specifically resistance and disobedience to authority.

The officer was taken to the Jesús María police station for further investigation.
