Peruvian Tall Ship BAP Unión Joins New York Independence Day Parade
The Peruvian Navy’s training vessel BAP Unión arrived in New York on 4 July 2026 to take part in the SAIL 250 International Parade of Sail, marking the United States’ 250th Independence Day celebration. The ship sailed up the Hudson River as part of the high‑profile maritime gathering that draws 43 tall ships from 20 nations and includes a display of naval heritage and cultural exchange.
During the visit, the BAP Unión opened its decks to the public from 5 to 7 July, offering visitors a glimpse of Peru’s maritime tradition and the cadets’ training program under the VIEX 2026 foreign navigation voyage. The event highlights Peru’s naval outreach while contributing to the large public attendance expected for the Independence Day festivities in New York City.
