PESA and Jupiter Wagons partner to develop rail vehicles in India

Polish rail manufacturer PESA Bydgoszcz and Indian company Jupiter Wagons Limited (JWL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop and produce passenger rail vehicles in India. The agreement was signed during the Poland-India Economic Forum in New Delhi.

The partnership focuses on three primary areas: the local production of locomotives and passenger vehicles using PESA technology, the decarbonization of railways through joint projects such as hydrogen-powered vehicles, and the manufacturing and supply of railway components. This collaboration aims to support India’s expanding metro networks and high-speed rail services.

For Jupiter Wagons, the move marks an expansion from its traditional focus on freight wagons and components into the passenger transport segment. For PESA, the agreement provides access to the Indian market, which its leadership describes as one of the most attractive railway markets globally.
