Pesaro businesses prepare class action following water crisis

Business associations in Pesaro are preparing for a potential class action following a severe water crisis that occurred during the Ferragosto holiday period. The crisis, caused by three rapid breaks in the central aqueduct pipeline, resulted in approximately 48 hours of service interruptions.

Local trade groups, including Confcommercio, Confesercenti, Confartigianato, Cna, Apa, Fipe, Federalberghi, and the Associazione Commercianti Baia, are currently assessing material and reputational damages. They have distributed specialized forms to members to document lost revenue and extraordinary costs incurred due to forced closures and service interruptions.

The associations have requested urgent institutional meetings with Marche Multiservizi CEO Mauro Tiviroli and ATO 1 Marche Nord President Massimo Berloni. Their demands include a detailed report on infrastructure investments over recent decades, a halt to dividends to prioritize network maintenance, and formal compensation for affected businesses.
