Rossini Opera Festival 2026 opens in Pesaro with new staging of Le Siège de Corinthe

The 47th Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro runs from 11 to 23 August 2026, opening with a fresh production of Le Siège de Corinthe. The staging is directed by Davide Livermore and musically led by Carlo Rizzi, featuring Adrian Sâmpetrean, Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, Maxim Mironov and Matteo Roma. The festival also revives two historic productions – L’occasione fa il ladro (Jean‑Pierre Ponnelle, 1987) and La scala di seta (Damiano Michieletto, 2009) – and presents concerts, a bel canto recital by Juan Diego Flórez and a performance of the Stabat Mater under Ramón Tebar.

In parallel, the Casa natale di Gioachino Rossini hosts the exhibition “Dall’archivio alla scena” (8 – 23 August). Curated by Paola Mariani, Andrea Giovanni Calì and Eugenia Cantone, it displays original sketches, costumes, set designs and archival material that illustrate the journey from manuscript to stage, aimed at schools and the general public.

The festival, a cornerstone of Italian cultural life, draws international audiences and scholars, reinforcing Pesaro’s status as a hub for Rossini’s legacy.
