Pesaro unveils plaque honoring Polish II Corps soldiers

A commemorative plaque was unveiled on the facade of Palazzo Mazzolari Mosca in via Rossini to honor the Polish II Corps for their role in the liberation of Pesaro from Nazifascism on September 2, 1944.

The ceremony included the daughter of General Władysław Anders, Anna Maria Anders, who previously served as the Polish Ambassador to Italy. Other attendees included Pesaro Mayor Andrea Biancani, City Council President Enzo Belloni, and Piotr Pniejnia-Olszynski from the Polish Embassy in Rome.

Mayor Biancani stated the plaque was placed in a highly visible location so the history of the liberation remains part of the city's daily life. He noted that the liberation was the result of diverse forces working toward a common goal, adding this testimony to existing memorials dedicated to local partisans and the Brigata Maiella.
