Pesaro Urbino faces high energy market vulnerability

The province of Pesaro Urbino has been identified as the most vulnerable area in the Marche region to energy market volatility and tensions. According to data from the CNA Marche Study Center, the local manufacturing fabric shows a higher concentration of energy-intensive sectors compared to the regional average.

Key sectors exceeding regional averages include metal product manufacturing (17.1% vs 14.7%), leather and hides (16.4%), wood and wood products (6.2% vs 5.0%), and machinery manufacturing (5.2% vs 4.0%). Other significant sectors include food production and clothing.

This dependency poses a major risk to thousands of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. Over 76% of local companies reported an increase in energy expenditure over the last six months, and nearly 90% of businesses expressed growing alarm. Michele Matteucci, provincial president of CNA Pesaro e Urbino, noted that rising energy costs immediately impact companies that often cannot pass these increases on to final prices.
