Pescara begins construction of major multi-level parking structure
Construction has reached a major milestone in Pescara’s urban redevelopment project at the former 'ex area di risulta'. The first of 62 pillars for the new south-side parking structure has been installed, marking the start of the most visible phase of the construction site.
The project involves building a four-level multi-story parking facility covering a total surface area of 18,000 square meters. Once completed, the structure will provide 752 parking spaces. To promote sustainability, the building will feature a photovoltaic system on the roof and approximately 2,000 square meters of vertical greenery.
Prior to the pillar installation, technical work included driving 350 foundation piles to a depth of 26 meters and removing approximately 5,000 square meters of contaminated soil up to 4 meters deep. Beyond the parking facility, the broader development plan includes a park spanning over three and a half hectares. Mayor Carlo Masci noted that the project addresses a long-awaited need for the city, following decades of anticipation.
