Pescara launches fraud prevention project for seniors

The Municipality of Pescara has launched a new prevention and anti-fraud project titled ‘ALT… È UNA TRUFFA’ (STOP… IT IS A SCAM) specifically targeting individuals over the age of 65. Funded by the Ministry of the Interior with a total amount of approximately 20,000 euros, the initiative is implemented by the ‘Domenico Allegrino’ Odv association.

The project aims to strengthen protection networks for seniors by addressing vulnerability, isolation, and insecurity through information campaigns, awareness activities, and community-based interventions. The program is designed to reach not only the elderly but also their families, young people, and the general public to combat increasingly sophisticated scamming methods.

Mayor Carlo Masci emphasized that the project provides essential guidance to the most fragile members of the population, stating that the administration’s policy is ‘to not leave anyone behind.’
