Pescara museum hosts exhibition of 120 Barbizon School masterpieces
The Museo dell’Ottocento – Fondazione Di Persio-Pallotta in Pescara is hosting an exhibition titled “La Scuola di Barbizon: le radici dell’Impressionismo” (The Barbizon School: the roots of Impressionism). The exhibition, which runs until January 9, 2027, features 120 works by French and Italian masters of the 19th century.
The collection aims to illustrate how the Barbizon School painters, who worked in the Fontainebleau forest, paved the way for Impressionism through their focus on natural light and direct observation of landscapes and rural life. The exhibition includes works by notable artists such as Courbet and Rosa Bonheur.
