Pescara officials face inquiry over Social Hostel project
Domenico Pettinari, leader of the ‘Pettinari per l’Abruzzo’ political movement, has filed an inquiry with the Pescara administration regarding the ‘Social Hostel’ project planned for the former Covered Market on via Maestri del Lavoro.
The project is funded by approximately 1.775 million euros from the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) under Mission 5. It aims to address illegal settlements and combat labor exploitation in the agricultural sector. Pettinari is demanding transparency regarding the project’s management, intended recipients, and specific services.
Key concerns include the accuracy of the data used to map illegal settlements and whether the current needs of the population justify the scale of the proposed facility. Pettinari emphasized that citizens deserve to know exactly how these public resources are being utilized and how the project will prevent the overlap between general mapping and the identification of victims of labor exploitation.
