Lazio regional council opposition walks out over San Raffaele case

The entire opposition in the Lazio Regional Council has decided to abandon the chamber following a vote regarding the San Raffaele case. The opposition leaders stated that the session should have been postponed until November 5 to await the outcome of an appeal against a State Council ruling.

The dispute involves a legal conflict between the Lazio Region and the San Raffaele healthcare group. Recent rulings by the State Council have reportedly ordered the Region to pay approximately 82 million euros in compensation to the private healthcare group.

Opposition members have criticized the current administration, led by President Francesco Rocca, alleging a change in legal strategy compared to previous administrations. They claim that while previous regional governments successfully defended the entity in court, the current administration has failed to file timely appeals or contest expert reports effectively. The opposition has announced plans to present a detailed dossier to the relevant authorities regarding these procedural concerns.
