Pescara residents face TARI waste tax increases of up to 15%

The Pettinari per l’Abruzzo council group has denounced significant increases in the TARI waste tax for residents of Pescara. According to council members Domenico Pettinari, Giovanni D’Andrea, and Massimiliano Di Pillo, many citizens have received bills showing increases of up to 15%, with individual costs rising by approximately 30 to 70 euros. Some residents reported paying 500 euros this year compared to 430 euros previously.

The group stated that these increases are set to be ratified in a budget variation arriving before the City Council this Thursday. The variation includes an additional 1,577,433 euros to be transferred to Ambiente S.p.A. for waste collection services, as well as 379,845 euros in collection fees for Adriatica Risorse S.p.A.

Critics argue that the tax hikes are disproportionate to the quality of service provided. They cited ongoing issues with the waste management system, including dirty and malodorous streets, service disruptions, difficulties with the door-to-door collection system, and chaos caused by the removal of street bins.
