Pescina approves new Equal Opportunities Commission
The Pescina City Council has unanimously approved the regulations for the establishment of a Municipal Commission for Equal Opportunities. The decision, reached during an extraordinary public session on October 16, 2026, received support from both the majority and the minority parties.
Proposed by Equal Opportunities Councilor Raffaella Tarola, the commission will consist of a maximum of 10 members. While the body will have a predominantly female representation, it will also include male members to reflect gender equality as a shared community goal. The commission's mandate is to eliminate direct and indirect discrimination and promote the full participation of women in community life, in accordance with constitutional and European principles.
Members will be selected through a public call for applications based on their professional curricula. The role is voluntary and unpaid. A dedicated evaluation committee, including Mayor Luigi Soricone and Councilor Raffaella Tarola, will oversee the selection process.
