Pescina hosts 29th Ignazio Silone International Prize

The 29th edition of the Ignazio Silone International Prize will take place in Pescina on August 21 and 22. The event, themed ‘The Freedom of Culture in the Theater of Life’, commemorates the 126th anniversary of the birth of the renowned author.

The program includes a walk through Silone’s historical locations organized with the University ‘G. d’Annunzio’ and the CAI, featuring students reading passages from the Italian Constitution. A major conference at the Teatro San Francesco will examine Silone’s role and the contributions of Abruzzese members to the Constituent Assembly during the first 80 years of the Republic.

Additional activities include a presentation of Filippo La Porta’s book, ‘Elogio della vita ordinaria’, and a discussion regarding the historical connections between Silone and European literary figures such as George Orwell and Albert Camus.
