Peshawar High Court issues notice to CM Sohail Afridi

The Peshawar High Court has issued several legal rulings involving Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. In one matter, the court dismissed a petition filed by Afridi challenging proceedings initiated by the Election Commission of Pakistan. The challenge concerned alleged violations of election laws during the NA-18 Haripur by-elections, specifically regarding a political rally held in favor of Omar Ayub.

In a separate legal development, the Peshawar High Court issued a notice to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi seeking a response to a contempt of court petition. The petition alleges that Afridi violated a previous court order from October 23, 2025, which prohibited the use of state resources for political gatherings, rallies, or processions.

The petitioner, represented by Barrister Yasin Raza, claims that during a political long march on October 4, the Chief Minister utilized a government helicopter to travel from Peshawar to Lucky Mروت. The petition asserts that the use of the helicopter, along with its pilot, crew, fuel, and security personnel, constitutes a direct violation of the court’s instructions to prevent the use of government machinery for political activities.
