Pet care costs rise as veterinary services hit record highs

In Spain, veterinary and pet services reached a historic high in July 2026, increasing by 4.9% compared to the same month in 2025. According to data from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), this rate exceeds the general inflation rate of 3.6%. Additionally, pet products saw a 1.3% year-on-year increase, up from 0.3% in June.

In Argentina, the pet care market is expanding as more households incorporate pets into their family structures. Monthly pet insurance costs currently range between $12,000 and $70,000 pesos, depending on the animal's age, the chosen plan, and the level of coverage. These policies typically cover veterinary care for accidents, illnesses, surgeries, vaccinations, and civil liability, operating through either reimbursement models or closed provider networks.
