Pet costume contests held during Halloween celebrations in California and San Diego

Various communities in the United States are hosting Halloween events featuring pet costume contests. In Ventura, California, the annual Howl-O-Ween contest at Ventura Harbor Village saw over 70 entries. Winners were selected in categories such as Spookiest, Most Sea Worthy, Most Creative, Best of Show, and Most On Trend. Samantha Gonzalez and her dog Ketut secured the Best of Show title.

In La Mesa Village, the eighth annual Halloween celebration includes a pet costume contest organized by the La Mesa Village Association. The event features trick-or-treating at local businesses, stilt walkers, and competitions in categories including ‘Best Pet/Pet Parent Combo’ and ‘Most Festive Halloween Pet’. The festivities aim to encourage community interaction with local small businesses.
