In Slovakia, presenters Danka Čapkovičová and Martin ‘Chyno’ Chynoranský emphasize that pet ownership requires more than affection. They advise potential owners to research a species' temperament and needs rather than choosing based on appearance. Key considerations include the significant commitment of time and the financial costs associated with care, such as aquarium maintenance.

In the Czech Republic, the Mikeš HB association reports on the difficulties faced by stray cats, particularly in the Vysočina region. Markéta Miltová notes that outdoor cats often live only one to two years due to hunger, disease, and harsh winters. The association stresses that feeding strays without ensuring spaying or neutering leads to uncontrolled population growth. They also warn against the misconception that abandoned kittens left in barns or abandoned buildings can survive on their own, as many die from malnutrition or lack of access to care.
