Pet retail companies implement store modernizations and testing formats
Pet retail companies are implementing various modernization and testing strategies. In Göppingen, Germany, the Zoo & Co. market has reopened following a six-week renovation. The 570-square-meter facility now features a new brand concept, including a central entrance, a barf counter, and expanded aquatic and terrarium sections. The store has also integrated digital infrastructure, such as electronic shelf labels, to automate price updates.
In Brunn am Gebirge, Austria, the Kölle Zoo Holding is testing a shop-in-shop format to evaluate new suppliers. Selected partner brands are given temporary, specially designed spaces in the center of the market to present their products and gauge customer response. The Spanish family business Freedog is currently participating in this pilot program with its brands Freedog and Freecat, which offer products for dogs and cats.
