Pet Shop Boys release Alan Turing concept album

The British electronic duo Pet Shop Boys has released ‘A Man from the Future’, a conceptual album released via Parlophone Records on October 9, 2026. The project serves as a musical biography of mathematician and cryptographer Alan Turing, exploring his scientific contributions to modern computing and his role in breaking German codes during World War II, as well as the personal persecution he faced due to his homosexuality.

The work combines electronic music with orchestral arrangements and spoken word narration. It features collaborations with the Manchester Camerata Octet, string arrangements by Sven Helbig, and narration by actress Juliet Stevenson. The album is structured into eight parts that follow a dramatic narrative, including tracks such as ‘The Enigma’, ‘The Trial’, and ‘Only in his death’.

Originally presented in 2014 at the BBC Proms at London’s Royal Albert Hall, this version is a revised studio recording. The project was developed in collaboration with Andrew Hodges, Alan Turing’s biographer, to weave together pop music with a cinematic, biographical storytelling approach.
