Petanque tournaments see record participation and regional victories

The sixth edition of the Ninoofs petanque tournament in Ninove has reached a record level of participation, featuring 38 teams and 190 players. The final weekend is scheduled for September 4–6 on specially constructed pop-up courts at the Graanmarkt. To accommodate interest, the city has provided two courts, allowing spectators to try the sport. The event coincides with the Ninove annual fair and includes a G-sport tournament for participants from various care institutions.

In another regional competition, the Tinnepleintoernooi organized by Hattem Petanque concluded on August 27. German duo Volker and Ingrid Schirra from Lathen secured the victory after a high-level match. They finished with three wins and a score of +162, narrowly surpassing Pierre Stevens and Willem Kreuler, who finished in second place with three wins and a score of +133.
