Petar Petković accuses Pristina of denying Serbian identity

Petar Petković, Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, has accused the authorities in Pristina of systematically attempting to deny the existence of the Serbian people. Petković reported that during a recent session of the Pristina assembly, representatives of the Serbian List were denied the right to speak and faced threats of prosecution for asserting their Serbian identity.

In a meeting with Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs official Tomas Boccia, Petković detailed how Pristina is obstructing the EU-mediated dialogue. He cited the long-standing refusal to form the Community of Serb Municipalities and the dismissal of Serbian judges and administrative staff as evidence of undermining previous agreements.

Petković further highlighted ongoing pressures, including the demolition of 33 Serbian-owned structures near Lake Gazivode and restrictions on the Serbian language and symbols. He characterized these actions as a planned policy of institutional and ethnic cleansing intended to deepen the political crisis in Kosovo.
