Petar Tubic rescues abandoned bear cub in Bosnia-Herzegovina
Petar Tubic, a resident of Mount Ozren in Bosnia-Herzegovina, has developed an unlikely bond with Masa, a bear he rescued as an abandoned cub in 2019. When first found in the forest, Masa weighed only 4.4 pounds and likely would not have survived without Tubic providing milk and fruit.
Masa now weighs approximately 330 pounds, yet she continues to interact with Tubic with the same affection she showed as a cub. Tubic has since expanded his animal rescue efforts to include another female bear named Ljubica, as well as wolves, deer, and raccoons.
Tubic’s home has become a local tourist attraction, drawing visitors who come to see the rescued animals. While Tubic notes that playing with the bears requires caution due to their size and strength, he describes the experience as a significant responsibility that has shaped his life.
