Pete Edochie praises Obafemi Awolowo and discusses Nollywood status

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has shared several personal reflections during an interview on the podcast ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’, hosted by Isbae U.

Edochie identified the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo as his favorite Nigerian politician. He praised the former Western Region premier for his ability to present clear development plans, including specific costs and funding sources. Edochie specifically credited Awolowo with introducing free primary education and establishing television broadcasting in Nigeria, noting that the Western Nigeria Television Service began in 1959.

Addressing his career in the film industry, Edochie stated that he considers himself to be at a higher professional level than his colleagues and challenged anyone who believes they are on his level to say so publicly. He also addressed claims regarding his seniority in the industry, noting that he has not felt the need to respond to those claiming to have started acting before him. He concluded by expressing appreciation for being recognized as a legend in his field.
