Pete Hegseth advocates for military meritocracy at Texas A&M

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth visited Texas A&M University to outline a vision for military reform centered on meritocracy, competence, and combat readiness. During his remarks to the Corps of Cadets, Hegseth emphasized that future officers should be evaluated strictly on their performance and ability to contribute to mission success, advocating for a ‘warrior ethos’ and the removal of perceived bureaucratic obstacles.

In addition to his address, Hegseth’s itinerary included touring the Veterans Resource Center and visiting a company specializing in autonomous sea drones. His visit to College Station coincides with a Texas A&M football game against Kentucky, where he is scheduled to attend as part of a broader trip to Austin and College Station.
