Pete Hegseth approval ratings drop amid impeachment resolution
New polling data from Quinnipiac University indicates a significant decline in approval for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. According to CNN data analyst Harry Enten, Hegseth’s net approval rating has dropped to minus 25 points, a sharp decrease from his minus nine rating in January prior to military actions against Iran. The decline is particularly pronounced among independent voters, who reported a net approval rating of minus 43.
The survey found that only 32 percent of voters approve of Hegseth’s performance, while 57 percent disapprove. Additionally, only 39 percent of voters expressed confidence in his military leadership, whereas 56 percent reported little or no confidence.
These developments coincide with political tension in the House of Representatives. Representative Thomas Massie introduced an impeachment resolution targeting Hegseth regarding the unauthorized war in Iran. Speaker Mike Johnson recently called for a recess, which prevented Republican members from holding a vote on the resolution.
