Pete Hegseth faces impeachment threats and controversy over F-15 pilot interviews
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and political appointees reportedly pushed for two F-15 crew members, shot down over Iran in April, to participate in a '60 Minutes' television segment regarding their rescue. While one pilot, call sign 'Bravo', agreed to the interview, the other, 'Alpha', declined. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell denied reports of coercion, stating the decision to participate was made independently by each service member and calling the claims of forced participation a 'complete lie'.
Separately, Democratic lawmakers have threatened to pursue impeachment proceedings against Hegseth if they regain control of the House of Representatives. Congressman Ro Khanna cited Hegseth's management of the Iran war, the 'SignalGate' leak, and military strikes in the Caribbean as grounds for removal. Other lawmakers, including Jason Crow, have expressed a desire to hold the Secretary accountable for his actions.
