Peter Berg reveals details for Call of Duty film adaptation

Director Peter Berg has shared new details regarding the upcoming live-action Call of Duty film, which is being produced by Skydance and Paramount. The adaptation will focus on the Modern Warfare sub-series from Activision’s popular first-person shooter franchise.

Berg, working alongside screenwriter Taylor Sheridan, intends to move beyond simple action sequences to explore the psychological and emotional consequences of combat. He described the source material as having a “very strong soul,” emphasizing that characters such as Captain Price, Soap, Ghost, and Alex are complex, multi-dimensional human beings rather than cartoonish figures.

The film aims to examine the “cost of war” and the personal burdens carried by soldiers who stand between global threats and the public. This approach marks a shift from Berg’s previous comments in 2013, when he expressed disparaging views regarding video games.
