Peter Berg reveals details on 'Call of Duty' Modern Warfare film

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Peter Berg Taylor Sheridan film adaptation

Director Peter Berg has provided new details regarding the upcoming ‘Call of Duty’ film, confirming the adaptation will be based on the ‘Modern Warfare’ branch of the franchise. The movie is scheduled for release on June 30, 2028, marking the 25th anniversary of the original game.

Berg emphasized that the film will avoid a superhero or cartoonish tone, instead focusing on the ‘cost of war’ and the psychological burden of being a warrior. He described the central characters, including Captain Price, Soap, Ghost, and Alex, as complicated and nuanced humans rather than comic book archetypes.

While acknowledging the presence of violence and military hardware, Berg and co-writer Taylor Sheridan aim to explore the ‘soul’ of the Modern Warfare universe and the consequences of combat.
