Peter Cheeke releases memoir on family history and Cobble Hill life

Peter Cheeke, a retired professor, has released a new memoir titled ‘Tales from Cobble Hill Mountain’. The book serves as a collection of stories documenting his family history and life on Vancouver Island.

Cheeke’s grandparents moved to Cobble Hill from England in 1904 and established the family home where Cheeke and his brothers were raised. The memoir explores the family's settlement in the area, life in the early-to-mid 20th century, and Cheeke’s personal journey from a small-town farmer to a university professor and world traveler.

Cheeke, who holds a PhD from Oregon State and previously studied at the University of British Columbia, wrote the book to preserve family knowledge for his four children and five grandchildren.
