Peter Daicos reveals secret cancer battle and remission

Australian Football Hall of Famer Peter Daicos has revealed he is in remission after a secret cancer diagnosis in 2022. The Collingwood legend shared the news as part of his upcoming memoir, ‘My Family’s Journey’.

Daicos, 64, stated that the diagnosis came as a shock while he was undergoing tests for other health issues. He explained that the family chose to keep the illness private to avoid a ‘circus’ and to protect his children from the daily burden of the news. He noted that the decision to conceal the diagnosis made the process difficult at times, as he felt unable to share his experience with others, including his wife, Colleen.

Daicos is the father of current Collingwood players Nick and Josh Daicos.
