Peter Gabriel releases eleventh studio album O/I

Musician Peter Gabriel has released his eleventh studio album, titled O\I, following the previous project i/o. The release is characterized by a patient, detailed production style and includes multiple mixes for certain tracks, such as the Bright-Side Mix by Mark ‘Spike’ Stent and the Dark-Side Mix by Tchad Blake, allowing listeners to experience different emotional perspectives of the same material.

One of the featured tracks, ‘A Hard Lesson’, is the oldest song in the project, having been written between the late 1980s and early 1990s during Gabriel's time in Senegal. The song incorporates polyrhythms inspired by local music structures. Its cover art features imagery from the film ‘Cuentos Patrioticos’ by director Francis Alÿs, depicting a recreation of a 1968 protest in Mexico City.

The album release follows a lunar calendar schedule, a method previously used with i/o, where new and full moons mark the appearance of different mixes. The project is substantial in scale, consisting of four CDs and two separate vinyl records.
