Peter Gulacsi joins Villarreal from RB Leipzig

Hungarian goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi is set to leave RB Leipzig after 11 years, completing a transfer to La Liga side Villarreal. The clubs have agreed on a €2 million fee, with the player expected to sign a two‑year contract that includes an optional third year. Gulacsi travelled to Spain with his family for the required medical examinations; if all goes well, the deal will be finalized.

The move follows reports from transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirming the agreement. RB Leipzig have already identified Norwegian keeper Ørjan Nyland as Gulacsi’s successor, with Nyland slated to re‑join the German club on a free transfer and a contract through the summer of 2028. The transfer marks the end of Gulacsi’s 362‑match spell at Leipzig, during which he helped the club win its first German Cup and compete regularly in the Champions League.
