Peter Jackson celebrates 65th birthday

New Zealand film director, producer, and screenwriter Peter Jackson is celebrating his 65th birthday. Jackson is widely recognized for his work in transforming fantasy worlds into cinematic experiences, most notably through his adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

Key milestones in his career include the consecutive filming of the three “Lord of the Rings” chapters between 1999 and 2000, a decision that moved the project from Miramax to New Line Cinema. His use of New Zealand’s natural landscapes, including its mountains and forests, helped bring Middle-earth to life and significantly boosted tourism to the country. His filmography also includes “Heavenly Creatures,” “King Kong,” and “The Hobbit” trilogy.
