Peter Lai's family holds private funeral and plans public memorial

The family of veteran Hong Kong lyricist and actor Peter Lai, known as ‘Peter Gor’, has announced that his funeral services were held privately. His remains were cremated on the morning of August 31 following his death from illness on August 5 at the age of 76.

In a statement, the family shared photos of the memorial, which featured a solemn arrangement of life photos and classic acting stills. To allow the public and fans to pay their respects, the family is planning a formal memorial service with the assistance of Prime Media (環星娛樂). Details regarding the time and location will be announced once finalized.

Following his passing, his close friend Chung Chi-kwong addressed rumors regarding Lai’s finances, clarifying that the entertainer was not in financial distress. Additionally, Lai’s son, Lai Shu-tak, addressed reports about his employment, explaining that he had been unemployed for the past year to provide 24-hour care for his father during his illness.
