Peter Lamas details career with Jackie Kennedy in new book

Stylist Peter Lamas has released a new book, ‘Jackie Kennedy’s Stylist’, detailing his decades-long career working with high-society icons and celebrities. A Cuban-born immigrant who moved to New York as a teenager, Lamas trained under industry pioneers Vidal Sassoon and Paul Mitchell on Madison Avenue before joining Kenneth Battelle’s salon, which he described as a ‘mecca for high society’.

Lamas’s most notable partnership was with Jacqueline Kennedy. He began styling the former first lady when Battelle was unavailable, eventually transitioning to house calls to accommodate her privacy from paparazzi. His memoir recounts intimate moments, including traveling to the Greek island of Skorpios in 1968 to style Kennedy.

Beyond Kennedy, Lamas’s client list included Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Diana Ross, and Mia Farrow. He also recalls performing hair services for Judy Garland at her wake at the request of her daughter, Liza.
