Peter Mbah advocates for AI as a tool for teachers

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has addressed concerns regarding artificial intelligence in the classroom, stating that AI should be viewed as a tool to enhance teacher effectiveness rather than a replacement for human educators.

Speaking at the 59th National Conference of Delegates of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Mbah argued that while AI can personalize learning, assist in lesson preparation, and identify learning gaps, it cannot replicate essential human qualities such as mentorship, character building, and the ability to inspire students. He emphasized that the future of education lies in the integration of teachers with technology.

To ensure a beneficial transition, the governor called for the implementation of ethical standards, data protection, responsible regulation, and continuous capacity-building for educators to prevent them from being marginalized by the technological revolution.
